The Advanced Rec program is designed for gymnasts looking to take their skills to the next level while continuing to develop in the Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) program. Athletes in this group will learn and refine a variety of gymnastics skills throughout the year, with a focus on progressing in all areas of WAG, including balance beam, vault, uneven bars, and floor exercise.

There are four groups within the Advanced Rec program, each designed to meet the needs and abilities of different age groups:
A supportive training group designed for younger gymnasts who are building on foundational skills and beginning to learn more advanced techniques.
A fun and supportive group for younger gymnasts who are ready to refine their basic skills and start learning more advanced techniques.
For athletes who are ready to build on foundational skills and work toward more complex gymnastics elements, both individually and as part of a team.

The Women’s Developmental Program is designed to provide athletes with a strong foundation of gymnastics skills, focusing on safety, technique, and progression. This program helps gymnasts build the basic skills needed to eventually move on to higher levels of gymnastics.

Developmental athletes will showcase their progress at our annual Christmas Show, Year-End Fun Meet, and various Fun Meets across the Peace Region.
Each team in the Developmental Program is designed to build age-appropriate skills while emphasizing teamwork and personal growth. Athletes in this stream participate through the Xcel Program, which offers a supportive environment where they can progress at their own pace and strengthen their gymnastics abilities. These teams will also have opportunities to travel within the Peace Region for fun meets, allowing them to showcase their hard work in a positive and encouraging setting.
The Xcel Program at GP Gymnastics offers athletes a flexible and encouraging competitive pathway that fits a wide range of goals, abilities, and commitment levels. Designed to let gymnasts progress at their own pace, Xcel allows athletes to compete customized routines that highlight their strengths while building confidence and new skills. With divisions ranging from Bronze to Diamond, the program provides meaningful competition opportunities without the higher time and training demands of traditional competitive streams. At GP Gymnastics, Xcel focuses on growth, enjoyment, and celebrating each athlete’s journey in a positive and supportive environment.
The Competitive Program at Grande Prairie Gymnastics offers athletes the flexibility to progress at their own pace while receiving personalized coaching. The goal of this program is to provide gymnasts of varying abilities and commitment levels with a rewarding and challenging gymnastics experience.

Athletes may participate in either the Xcel Program or the CCP (Canadian Competitive Program), depending on their skill level and their coach’s assessment. Placement is determined based on the athlete’s current abilities to ensure they are enrolled in the program most appropriate for their stage of development.
Members of the Zero Gravity competitive team may have opportunities to compete at events throughout Alberta and across Canada. Competition participation is determined annually by the Grande Prairie Gymnastics coaching staff, based on each athlete’s performance, progress, and readiness.
The Zero Gravity competitive team is designed for dedicated gymnasts who are committed to reaching their full potential. This program provides an opportunity to compete at high levels, refine skills, and represent Grande Prairie Gymnastics with pride.
